Eastern Kentucky University New Science Building

Richmond, KY

The 2 phase development plan establishes a unique symbiotic relationship between landscape and the building, developing features that extend from the interior to the exterior and integrate into the educational mission of the university. A few of the unique items for this site include, stormwater collection into a dry stream bed with a waterfall and wetland area for biofiltration. Water collection wells and concrete flumes provide water quality collection and monitoring sites for research and education. A geologic timeline in granite curbing traverses the site and a scale model of the solar system extends from interior to the exterior ground plane.
