Phoenix Park Reimagined

Live, Work, Play! Element led the design team that also included Gresham Smith and KFI Engineers, tasked with a total reimagining of Phoenix Park. As a very prominent public space located in the very heart of downtown Lexington, the redesign for this one acre public park and plaza space included an early stakeholder input phase to inform programming, with touchpoints throughout the design process to verify goals and the vision for Phoenix were being met.

Site design goals focused on creating spaces for all of the downtown community to use and enjoy during the day, weekends, and evenings. Flexibility of space and changeable use are key, to allow for various levels of site programming and create spaces that are fun and welcoming at all times, including dynamic night lighting. Site elements include a small performance space, a dynamic playspace for all ages, fog play, an attractive and durable Dog Lot, public art and custom sign design.
